What it is
A review-and-approve marking assistant
MarkScanner is a web-based marking assistant for teachers who still work with printed quizzes, chapter tests, and handwritten solutions. Whether you upload a test you already give or create a new one, it drafts the rubric (what each question is worth and how marks are assigned) for you to review and approve.
Then upload a scanned PDF or images of student work. MarkScanner grades against the rubric you approved, and you review the draft marks and comments question by question before approving final results and printing a one-page feedback sheet for each student.
It’s a review-and-approve workflow, not blind automation. You stay the teacher; MarkScanner does the repetitive first pass.

From a fresh test to graded feedback, in five stages

01 · Upload or create
Upload the tests you already give, or create a new one with MarkScanner. It drafts a marking rubric from your materials for you to edit. Nothing is final until you approve the rubric and the marks.

Print on regular paper. No custom booklets or special paper. Tests you upload stay as they are; MarkScanner-generated tests include small page markers for reliable scan grouping.

03 · Scan
Scan the finished class set in one upload. A photocopier's scan-to-PDF works best. MarkScanner works out which pages belong to which student, and asks you when it isn't sure.

04 · Grade
Draft marks and per-question comments appear. You review every answer, adjust where you disagree, and approve.

Teacher-in-the-loop
MarkScanner is designed as a teacher-in-the-loop system. It helps with draft marks, comments, and organisation, but you stay in control of final grades.
Work MarkScanner can’t read clearly, and answers where its draft looks doubtful, are flagged for your review. An answer without a flag can still be wrong, so every mark and comment is editable, and nothing is final until you approve it. The goal isn’t to hand marking over to a model. It’s to take the repetitive first pass off your plate, so your time goes to the judgement calls only a teacher can make.
