For Ontario math teachers
Built in Ontario, for Ontario math classrooms.
MarkScanner is built in London, Ontario, with direct input from Ontario secondary school teachers. It’s made for Grades 9 to 12 math teachers who give paper quizzes and tests with handwritten, show-your-work answers.
Your tests, your rubric
Keep the quizzes and chapter tests you already give. MarkScanner drafts a rubric from your test and answer key; you edit and approve it, and you decide the final marks.
Achievement levels on the feedback sheet
Ontario achievement levels are the default grading scale. Each student’s one-page sheet can show a level for the assessment and for each question, alongside the marks and comments.
New tests by course code
When you draft a new test in MarkScanner, you can pick an Ontario course and balance questions across the achievement chart categories: Knowledge and Understanding, Thinking, Communication, and Application.
Stored in Canada
Your account data and uploaded work are stored in Canada. Student work isn’t used to train AI models. Our AI provider may process it outside Canada; the privacy policy explains this.

Your judgement
The teacher decides
Ontario’s Growing Success policy puts teachers’ professional judgement at the centre of assessment. MarkScanner is built the same way: it drafts marks and comments, and you approve the rubric and the final results. Nothing goes back to a student until you’ve signed off.
Every draft mark and comment is editable. Work MarkScanner can’t read clearly is flagged for you, and an unflagged answer can still need correcting, so your review is part of the workflow.
