See what MarkScanner does with a handwritten response
Follow one sample response from the student’s working to the feedback they receive. For fuller walkthroughs with four students each, see the worked examples, or read more about MarkScanner for Ontario teachers.
-
Step 1
The handwritten work
See the original response, including the steps the student took and where they made a mistake.
-
Step 2
The draft marks and feedback
MarkScanner uses the approved rubric to propose a mark, including partial credit, and explain the result question by question.
-
Step 3
Your review
Check the draft against the original work. Change marks or comments and investigate flagged answers before returning the results.
-
Step 4
The student's feedback sheet
Print feedback showing what the student did well, where they went wrong, and what to practise next.
Your rubric. Your review. Your final grades.
You can still read every student’s paper and see how they approached each question. MarkScanner helps with the repetitive scoring and comment writing, while you make the assessment decisions.

Answers to the questions you ask after every test
What should I reteach next?
See which questions challenged the class, then look at the responses behind the results. Use that information to decide what needs another explanation or more practice.
How is this student progressing?
Revisit a student's previous work, grades, and feedback. Keep the evidence together so you can see their progress and prepare more targeted follow-up.
How do I get these marks into my records?
Export grades as a CSV spreadsheet to reduce retyping. Keep a digital copy of the work and feedback sheets for later reference.
Try it with your next quiz or test.
